¿Cuales son las diferencias entre Review y Revise ?

“Review” y “Revise” a menudo nos confunde debido a su definición casi similar. Para los estudiantes de ESL, aprender nuevas palabras en inglés es una tarea desafiante, especialmente cuando las palabras tienen casi el mismo significado. La naturaleza del idioma inglés es realmente interesante porque algunas palabras pueden sonar y significar lo mismo, sin embargo, no lo son si las aprendemos más profundamente. El uso gramatical de “Review” y “Revise” es fácil siempre que estas dos palabras sean verbos. Ambas son palabras de acción que significan “vuelve a mirar algo que hayas estudiado para prepararte para una prueba o un examen”. Pero a pesar de sus similitudes, “Review” y “Revise” también tienen otros significados.

¿Qué significa Review?

El verbo Review significa repasar el material nuevamente para refrescar su memoria y practicar. Esto significa que solo lee y mira cuidadosamente algo una y otra vez. Descubrir la diferencia entre las palabras revisar y revisar es complicado. Pero cuando comprueba la acción implicada, encontrar su significado puede ser fácil.
 
Por ejemplo:
 
The exam is going to be very difficult. I need to review the chapter tonight.
I need to review her answer to make sure it’s correct.
 
Además, la palabra “Review” también podría significar escribir una evaluación crítica o un informe de un libro, película, etc.

¿Qué significa Revise?

Los verbos Review y Revise son sinónimos. Sin embargo, el verbo revisar significa editar, corregir o cambiar un escrito. A diferencia del verbo “Review”, “Revise” incluye cambiar o alterar algo para mejorar algo.
 
Por ejemplo:
 
The newspaper editor revised the article three times to avoid conflict with the politicians.
You need to revise the book because it was erroneous.
 
Apart from writing, you can also use the word revise to change your opinion, decision, or plan because you received newer and better information.
 
Because of the pandemic, teachers revised their teaching methods.
We need to revise our travel plans because there is a typhoon coming next week.

Review y Revise: Una breve comparacion
